JINAN, China, Nov. 5, 2026 — China’s stainless steel angle market is holding a narrow range in early November, with traders reporting stable quotations as nickel costs soften and buyers shift from price speculation to grade selection.
The market reference price for 302 stainless steel angle was assessed at USD 2,065.54 per tonne on November 4, up 0.3% from USD 2,058.60 two days earlier, according to China Steel Market data. Mainstream Wenzhou quotations moved the other way, to USD 2,050.57 per tonne ex-works, pointing to thin spot trading rather than any change in mill costs. Stainless steel angle in 304 and 316L is quoted across the 30×3 mm to 100×10 mm range.
Nickel Eases, Cost Pressure Stays Contained
LME nickel traded at USD 15,375–15,522 per tonne on November 3, while the Shanghai contract hovered near CNY 116,760 per tonne — both benchmarks moving sideways since late October. The International Nickel Study Group expects a global surplus of about 19,000 tonnes in 2026, widening to roughly 70,000 tonnes in 2027 — keeping alloy surcharges in check and stainless steel angle pricing predictable into the first quarter of 2027.
Demand Shifts Toward Specification-Driven Orders
Stainless steel angle remains a workhorse product in structural frames, support brackets, marine railings, food processing platforms and architectural trim. Buyers increasingly specify grade rather than accept substitution: 304 stainless steel angle for general indoor and mildly corrosive service, and 316L stainless steel angle for coastal, chloride-bearing or hygienic environments.
Hot rolled stainless steel angle in pickled or bright finish continues to dominate export volumes, with 6-metre and 12-metre lengths and EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates now standard requirements.
CBAM Compliance Becomes a Sourcing Criterion
Since January 1, 2026, the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism has run under its definitive regime for iron and steel. Importers must report embedded emissions, with certificates purchasable from February 2027; the Q1 2026 benchmark price was EUR 75.36 per tonne.
For European buyers, verified emissions data is now a shortlisting criterion: suppliers providing product-level carbon figures alongside mechanical test reports are winning orders previously decided on price alone.
What Buyers Should Verify
Standard:
●ASTM A276 / A484, EN 10056-1/-2 or JIS G4303
Tolerance:
●critical for welded frames and railings
Surface:
●pickled, bright or brushed, matched to the application
Traceability:
●heat number, mill origin and third-party inspection
“Stainless steel angle is a mature product, so the competition has moved to consistency and documentation,” a spokesperson for Shandong Ruixiang Steel Group Co., Ltd. said. “Customers are asking for the same grade, the same tolerance and the same paperwork on every shipment — and increasingly for emissions figures they can pass to their own customers.”
Outlook
With nickel in surplus and demand steady rather than surging, stainless steel angle prices are likely to stay range-bound through the fourth quarter, with December mill allocations the next signal to watch. Buyers planning Q1 2027 deliveries should confirm grade availability and certification requirements early, as 316L lead times typically extend ahead of the northern spring construction season.
